About Jonathan Steinwand
I am the 2010 faculty leader of the Social Justice, Peace, and Development Semester in India. I also led the program in 2008. As Professor of English, I teach a wide range of composition, literature, and literary theory courses at Concordia College. I specialize in three areas: 1) the history and theory of criticism, including contemporary trends, 2) the long 18th Century of British Literature from Paradise Lost to Frankenstein, and 3) contemporary post-colonial literature--especially of South Africa, the Pacific Islands, and South Asia. In my current research I am working on a book in which I trace the paralell critiques of modernity offered in the Gothic, ecocriticism, and post-colonial literature. I am married to a mortgage banker and have a 14-year-old son who likes to play tennis and a 12-year-old daughter who likes to play soccer.
